Rachel Casey

Rachel has been a Director at Dogs Trust since 2017. In addition to leading a team of behaviourists working with dogs in rehoming centres, Rachel is responsible for departments involved in the prevention of problem behaviours. This includes ‘Dog School’, a programme of education and training for dog owners and a school Education programme. She also oversees a research programme, with projects ranging from veterinary epidemiology to sociological aspects of dog ownership.

Before joining Dogs Trust, Rachel worked in academia, where she taught vet students, ran a referral clinic in veterinary behaviour, and managed a research group investigating various aspects of cat and dog welfare. Rachel has a PhD, is a UK Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Behavioural Medicine, a European Veterinary Specialist in both Veterinary Behavioural Medicine and Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. She is widely published in peer reviewed journals and an international speaker in veterinary behaviour and animal welfare science.
