This month in training: September 2022

Posted by Matt Sadler

Albert had so much fun exploring in his first puppy training class, cocker spaniel Rose has been on a bus and lovely Lyra has some wonderful news. Go behind the scenes and find out what else our clever pups have been learning.

1. Albert had so much fun at his first puppy training class

Albert's first puppy training class was all about investigating new objects...

So, we went along to meet him and to find out what he thought of all those unusual items.

Get ready for a very waggy tail.

2. Rose was the perfect passenger

Cocker spaniel Rose has been on her first ever bus journey.

Rose did a fab job getting used to the new sounds and unusual movements and will build on this first trip with another short journey soon.

Well done, Rose!

3. Pluto had a fab time at summer fete

Pluto has been to a summer fete, and he was very happy with his winnings from the soft-toy tombola.

The event was a great opportunity for Pluto to train in a busy environment, and he did brilliantly despite all the interesting new sights and smells.

4. Way to go, Flori!

Cockapoo Flori is lying next to her certificate, which was awarded for passing the first stage of hearing dog training

Congratulations to cockapoo Flori, who has passed the first stage of her hearing dog training.

Flori has been working on her basic cues like 'sit', 'down' and 'wait', and has also been busy investigating new objects and making sure she is having as much fun as possible.

You can find out what Flori will be learning next here.

5. Ruby is such a clever girl

Cocker spaniel Ruby has been busy solving some puzzle games.

Games like this not only slow down a dog's eating, but they also help to keep them mentally stimulated, especially if it is too warm to go outside.

6. Lovely Lyra has passed the third part of her hearing dog training

This means that Lyra is just about to start the final stage, and our clever cocker spaniel will focus more on learning the sounds she will alert her deaf partner to.

Lyra has already made a lot of friends during training, and you will see some videos of her playing with her sister Willow.

Sponsor a puppy and change a deaf person's life
