For a little puppy, every day is full of surprises and new exciting objects to explore. Ralph was very intrigued and slightly baffled by this cat toy…

Ralph has been a busy pup. He has started learning how to respond to basic cues. Here is Ralph’s volunteer puppy trainer, Sam, telling Ralph to ‘sit’ and ‘wait’ before giving him the cue that he is allowed to eat his yummy food…

What a good pup! At such a young age, Ralph is already showing amazing qualities of obedience and patience. These basic cues are taught to our puppies from a very young age, so that they feel happy and confident responding to cues in lots of different situations.

It is also important that Ralph can respond to his name and follow instructions, such as ‘on your bed’…

What a superstar! When Ralph correctly does what he is asked, he receives a yummy treat and lots of praise. This positive style of reward-based training will be used throughout Ralph’s entire hearing dog training. For Ralph, this means his training will always be so much fun!

Ralph has also recently been introduced to walking on his lead. He is always so excited to go on an adventure…

As you can see, Ralph is just having the best time ever!

That’s nearly it for now. We will end this Puppy Pen Episode with how we started it… with an adorable sleepy Ralph. Except this time, Ralph’s usual snoozing buddy has been swapped for a cuddly toy... Twix must have been busy playing!
