Archie loves playing, whether it’s with a human, another dog, or a log, or leaves.

His Volunteer Puppy Trainer Alison explains: “When he first came to stay, he really enjoyed rolling a small log around the house. It was so cute. He also loves chasing leaves in the wind. He clearly thinks they fly around for his benefit and amusement.”

We think she’s right. Archie might be small, but he’s bursting with confidence. He wants to know about the world – and, more to the point, wants the world to know about him.

Alison explains: “He’s full of curiosity. Archie wants to know what I’m doing, when I’m doing it. He’s become my four-legged appendage and is usually not far away.

“He is definitely a confident little man,” says Alison. “He plays with other older, wiser hearing dogs who very patiently put up with his puppy behaviour. He also loves being around other local volunteers when we meet up – and they love him!”

Everyone loves Archie, from the adorable caramel splodge of fur on his bottom, to the tip of his little brown nose. Archie mostly loves everything, except the hoover. “It took a day of sniffing and exploring before the hoover could be turned on,” Alison tells us.

Don’t worry Alison, we’re sure he’ll find a ‘hoover game’ before long.

It's quite a change from when he was a very young puppy, where he did lots of snoozing.

It’s early days for Archie, but his inquisitive nature means he’s already great at his basic cues, such as ‘sit’ and ‘wait’. He just wants to know everything, to learn everything, to take it all in. He’s such a bright little chap, full of energy and love. One day he’s going to make a deaf person very happy indeed.

Thank you for sponsoring Archie! You're pawsome!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
