Arya's first trim reveals a new puppy underneath!

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Arya's had her first trim. Now we know what she looks like underneath!

This is how she started:

We think there's a dog under there somewhere! It's difficult to tell.

We always make sure our puppies are gently introduced to new experiences, and let's face it, a buzzy thing shaving your fur off could be a bit scary for a young pup. So, our trainers are incredibly gentle. They let her smell the razor and get used to it, and make sure she's happy, before they even begin the clip.

They even let them have a snooze if they fancy it...

When it is eventually time for the trim, they still take it very easy, with plenty of 'time-outs'. This is midway through, in which Arya looks surprised to see how much fur she used to have!

Almost there, and Arya is being such a good little girl. All it takes is a treat to tell her that she's doing the right thing, just staying still and enjoying the experience.

All done! And there's the 'real' Arya! A bit less dark, certainly a lot less fluffy, but we can see her eyes now and they're sparkling, so she must be happy. And we think she could be smiling too. What do you think? Let us know in your comments below!

The green mat to her right used to be full of treats, so maybe that's why she's smiling.

The video below shows more about the day, from the very gentle way our trainers lovingly treat Arya, through to the eventual 'new' Arya.

Just one final thing: did you spot the deliberate mistake in all the photos and the video above?

That's right - the clock had stopped! We didn't notice until we saw the photos! Rest assured it's fixed now.

So, Arya is still a very cute little dog, even if she's lost some of that puppy fluff. We hope to show you much more as she grows, but for now, thank you for sponsoring her!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
