Chrissie and cows, elephants and cat flaps
Posted by Brendan Cooper
It's time for more Chrissie!
Let's start with a lovely photo of her with her brothers, sisters and mum.
Which one's Chrissie? The one with her back to the camera, of course!
We have some puppies that are natural models, always catching the camera, always presenting their best side. Chrissie would appear to be exactly the opposite!
Let's take a look at her actually facing the camera.
Hmmm. Perhaps she just doesn't like being 'posed'? So let's try a more 'natural' shot...
That's more like it! Even though she's still not looking at the camera, it's excusable because she's clearly regarding a huge cow.
The photo was taken by Bridget, the Volunteer Puppy Trainer who is now looking after our little Chrissie. "We are lucky to have farmland, parks, river walks and canals nearby," Briget tells us. "Chrissie loves going for walks, and even recently made friends with a cow!"
It looks like there's a queue of cows lining up to say hello to this plucky little Lab!
Now, time for a Chrissie story from Bridget...
"We recently moved into our new house. The previous owners had cats, which left us with several cat flaps, most of which we blocked off to stop unwelcome visitors paying a surprise visit.
"So, recently, my partner was leaving and called to me that Chrissie was in the yard. I took a quick look out and spotted Chrissie trotting around the yard happily.
"I continued getting ready for the day until I heard a sound in the house that shouldn’t be there. I cautiously crept down the corridor... only to be attacked by a flying furry black object with a pink wet thing heading for my face!
"Yes, Chrissie pup had found the one cat flap we hadn't blocked. We've had plenty of other pups stay with us and she's the first to find it. I'm not sure how she actually got through it but she certainly was very happy with herself about it that’s for sure!
"So it would seem that there is yet another item i.e. House Breaking, to go on the list of skills this little pup will be taking into her working life.
That has to be one of the funniest puppy stories we've ever heard! We won't encourage the burglary skills but it shows how bright she is.
Here's Chrissie shortly after the 'flying furry black object with a pink wet thing' incident!
What's the phrase? 'Butter wouldn't melt...?'
Back to Bridget: "Here she is fast asleep after a run-around."
"She loves the fluffy elephant toy's foot in her mouth while she sleeps, and will stay like that until something wakes her. It takes a while to get that much foot in her mouth but she works at it until her mouth is full and then sleeps. Funny little puppy!"
Funny little puppy indeed. And cute. And adorable!
She's doing so well. We hope you enjoyed this insight into the lovely little puppy you're helping. Until next time, thank you for sponsoring Chrissie!
