Chrissie's first puppy class
Posted by Brendan Cooper
Chrissie's started attending puppy classes!
This is how our puppies start on their training journey. They attend classes every two weeks, in which a Puppy Training Instructor takes a group of puppies with their Volunteer Dog Trainers through basic training. They're always a lot of fun, for everyone - and every puppy - involved!
Here's Chrissie as she arrives at her first class:
She looks eager to get cracking, don't you think? You can tell us what you think in the comments field below.
Chrissie has always been a quick puppy in mind and in body, so it's no surprise to us that she's looking forward to being a star pupil.
Given that our puppies are still very young (all together now: "Awwwwww!"), their first lessons are really just about exploring the world and stimulating their senses. So, it seems a cardboard box is ideal for this particular class!
Chrissie seems happy with it...
The dog with its head in the box is a new puppy pal of Chrissie's, a Cocker Spaniel called Bishop. He's very inquisitive, even more so than Chrissie. Even though this is Chrissi's Pupdate, let's spend a few seconds admiring how cute Bishop is:
It says 'Hearing dog puppy' on his lead, so that's official!
Back to playing with the box...
There are other items for them to explore too, with interesting colours, shapes, sizes and smells...
This looks like fun (which it is, obviously), but it's important. Our puppies need to gain the confidence to explore the world and to learn that there is nothing to fear from the unknown. This is all in preparation for the time when, as hearing dogs, they will take loud or busy places in their stride. You can find out more about this in our web page about training puppies.
Finally, after having so much fun, Chrissie shows us her very cute face.
She's really good at looking cute! She's also doing really well in puppy class, with new chums such as Bishop to play with. This is thanks to you, her sponsor. So, until next time, thank you for sponsoring Chrissie!
