How cute are these videos of Daisy?

Welcome to your second ever Daisy Puppy Pen Pupdate!

It's time for you to see how very cute Daisy is, and how well she's settling in with her new Volunteer Puppy Trainers.

She's been so well cared for, ever since she was born. We understand that a puppy's behaviour needs to be nurtured from day one, so our trainers make sure she's stimulated, and taught that new sights, smells and sounds are interesting, to be explored, not to be frightening.

So, below, you can see how little Daisy explores her senses in our specially created Breeding Centre, complete with lots of fun toys and soothing music!

Cute!

Next up, Daisy playing with the same toy, but this time with a bit of interaction with our trainer. She thinks it's all fun (well, actually it is all fun, including for the trainer!), but actually she's learning to play nicely, not to be selfish or defensive. This bond between dog and human is at the heart of what hearing dogs do, as well as alerting deaf people to sounds. It's great that Daisy was able to play so well at such a young age.

Cute! Again!

Now for something very cute indeed - a bit of fun involving paws being waved about in the air!

Again, this is all part of Daisy learning that it's nice being around people. Deaf people in particular can feel lonely from time to time, so a cuddly companion, who really enjoys being around them, can sometimes be their lifeline. It looks like Daisy will be a lot of fun for a deaf person in future!

Daisy has now moved in with her Volunteer Puppy Trainers, called Peter and Hazel. They will look after her for her first year, giving her basic training, making sure she's happy and healthy, and making sure she grows up to be a well-behaved dog.

This is a process we call 'socialising'. As with all Daisy's earlier experiences, it all goes towards making a well-rounded character, one that knows how to behave nicely, is fun to be around, but no fuss, no bother.

As you can see below, Daisy was already confident exploring new objects. In place of her green toy, she seems to enjoy packs of kitchen towels!

And last but not least, a big step for a little puppy - her first class!

Again, these help puppies gain confidence in new surroundings. The training centre can be especially stimulating, with other dogs and more unusual sounds, sights and smells. So, Peter just takes it very easy with her, making sure not to overload her keen little puppy senses.

Are you thinking what we're thinking? Cute again!

Daisy is doing really well already, and this is in no small part down to Peter and Hazel. They have looked after lots of our puppies in the past, and in fact raised another sponsor puppy called Micky, who went on to help a deaf person and even featured in a HDTV episode video with Chris Packham, who sponsored him.

There's plenty more Daisy coming your way, and this is in return for your kindness in supporting her. So, until next time, thank you for sponsoring Daisy!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
