Feather - friends and fur
Posted by Brendan Cooper
We recently decided to take a look back at some of Feather's photos, and noticed two themes emerging: friends, and fur!
First, friends. Feather has made lots over the months, and in fact it's probably fairer to call them family.
But wait - here actually is Feather's family!
Dad Ruben is on the left, and mum Hebe on the right. Hebe was also a sponsor puppy! That's right - two generations of sponsor puppies. Feather has inherited Hebe's fabulous temperament and intelligence, but more of dad's looks and colouring. Oh, and he stuck his tongue out especially for that photo.
More family shots now - here's Sylvia, Feather's Volunteer Puppy Trainer who has brought Feather up to be such a great dog. They've been out and about together plenty, as you can see.
Nanette also looked after Feather. Here she is with Feather showing what a good girl she can be at the shops.
See how Feather's attention is on Nanette all the time, and she's just sitting down, no bother, no fuss? It's exactly how we want a hearing dog to behave, with patience and consideration for everyone around.
Also, that photo shows how well the burgundy coat stands out. It's a very powerful signal to people that the person Feather is with has a hearing loss. One day, this will totally transform a deaf person's life, changing how people treat them, simply because they're more aware of their 'invisible disability'.
More 'family' - the Hearing Dogs family!
This is Darcy, who has taken Feather through a lot of her training. She, of course, adores Feather. Feather looks quite happy too - and look, her tongue's out! Like father like daughter.
This is another trainer, Rebecca, who has also helped out with Feather's training. Again, big smiles all round.
Does a vet count as 'family'? Feather doesn't seem to mind either way, they seem to get along just fine!
The title of this Puppy Pen mentioned fur, and that's the other theme. Feather can be very furry!
Sometimes you can just about make out her eyes and mouth.
Other times - nope. That's not a dog, it's just a big ball of fur!
It's such a luscious, thick coat. It must feel wonderful to give her a cuddle - which, of course, one day her future deaf partner will do, every day.
Finally, we couldn't resist including this. According to Darcy, this position is officially known as 'splooting'...
Feather: cute when she sploots!
We hope you enjoyed this look back at Feather's photos, and we also hope to be able to bring you fab news about Feather before long. Until then, thank you so much for sponsoring her!
