Forrest according to Caroline
Posted by Brendan Cooper
Forrest and his volunteer puppy socialiser Caroline continue to learn more about each other!
It looks like Forrest's first night went fine. Caroline explains: "He was amazing and settled in so well for a young pup. We are a busy household and he just strode straight in, nose in air, really proud that he was wearing a “big boy” harness and on a lead. We expected a sleepless night but he slept through – I probably had less sleep than him!"
Here's Caroline's very first photo of Forrest on his very first day with her:
Looks ok to us!
Since then, Caroline's made sure Forrest learns plenty about the world and his place in it.
She tells us: "Forrest loves playing football with our boys and generally being with children; on a recent trip to a garden centre it was noted that he 'lights up' when children appear."
Here he is in the garden centre, looking very attentive and quizzical...
What do you suppose Forrest is thinking? Add a comment and let us know!
Certainly, Forrest's personality is coming out. "Forrest loves being chased: he goes into his 'let’s play' stance when he drops onto his front paws and then nothing will stop him running around like crazy! He also likes showing you how big and strong he is with a game of tug-of-war."
This could be his 'let's play' stance:
Caroline continues: "Then, when he’s had enough, he loves to rest in front of the patio doors where he can look out of the window. He also likes to be near you so that he can fall asleep leaning up against your legs or within tummy rubbing range."
Cue yet more photos of a cute snoozing puppy...!
Caroline concludes: "Forrest is very playful and likes to tease – he will take something he knows he shouldn’t have (eg a shoe or flower pot) and show you just so you will chase him. He is very loving and seems to know when he needs to be gentle, with younger children for instance."
He certainly looks like a playful pup!
And finally, a funny story about Forrest: "He has a stubborn streak and when Forrest wants to watch something he can’t be persuaded to 'move along'. Once, he stopped outside a local shop and refused to carry on until everyone had come out to meet him and rub his tummy. He has stopped to look at builders refitting a shop, garage mechanics, workmen in the road... I’ve learned that you can’t rush Forrest, even if it is pouring down with rain!"
"You can't rush Forrest." What a line. We might use that ourselves sometime!
They're all getting along fabulously, as you can see. Until the next update, thank you for sponsoring Forrest!
