Forrest, family, and friends

Forrest's volunteer puppy socialiser Caroline has provided us with more great photos of Forrest loving life! In particular, there are plenty of Forrest with his family and friends.

Let's start with a really wonderful photo. Which one do you think is Forrest?

Well, we have, from left to right: Vesper, Flash, Maggie and then Forrest is on the right.

Vesper is Forrest's half-sister, and is also a sponsor puppy! Flash is Forrest's full brother from the same litter, and as you can see, he has a similar stature to Forrest. Maggie is no relation, but definitely a family friend. She's also a hearing dog in training, with the same trainer as Forrest, who stayed with Caroline in August, and Vesper stayed with her in September.

How about another one?

From left to right you have Flash, Forrest and Vesper. They look like such happy dogs! And below, you have Forrest in the background, and Vesper in the foreground. Vesper is a bit younger than Forrest, but we think she'll always be smaller (by which we also mean Forrest is a strapping boy!)

"Vesper came to stay in September and Forrest was brilliant with her," Caroline tells us. "He even taught her to use the stairs! Going up was much easier for her than going down. Forrest kept going up to her, then coming down to show her the way, then going back to her, down, up, back to her and so on." What a considerate dog!

Caroline also sent some great photos of Forrest and Maggie indoors and outdoors.

Here they are in one of their favourite places - the kitchen. Labradors are very, very keen on food, and so they like to hang out where it's available (or at least, where they can smell it).

As well as looking very appealing when there's a chance of food, they can look extremely cute together outdoors.

They also did some training together. Here they both are, out and about, showing how well they behave in public. Back to Caroline: "Forrest's training is coming along. He has a most impressive nose nudge, technically referred to as  an 'alert'." Our dogs use this to tell deaf people about sounds they need to know about, but they've also been known to use them to ask for puppy cuddles.

And finally, this is just such a fantastic photo - friends together, holding hands! Or paws, in their case.

Did we say finally? Not quite! No Puppy Pen update is complete without at least one photo either showing a dog snoozing peacefully, or looking incredibly happy. So, this time, it's a dog looking incredibly happy.

Thank you Caroline for the photos, and thank you, his sponsor, for supporting him.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
