Forrest at play, and at work

Posted by Brendan Cooper

We have some more photos of Forrest to share with you! All courtesy again of Forrest's fab Volunteer Puppy Trainer Caroline.

Let's kick off with a great photo of Forrest looking like a sculpture!

He's a striking dog now, don't you think? Labradors can look very dignified.

Just to show balance in all things, here's Forrest looking not quite so dignified...

Caroline puts this one best: "The whole of the field and Forrest has to be in the puddle!"

Forrest has been up to plenty. We showed you his life with friends and family last time, and we have more to tell you about his fun with his half-sister Vesper. Caroline takes up the story: "When Vesper came to stay with us, Forrest was brilliant with her. She could go up the stairs, but wasn't so sure coming down. So, he taught her! He kept going up to her then coming down, then up and down a few steps more, and so on. It was lovely to watch."

You see, our dogs are so amazing, they even teach each other! You can find out more about Vesper in her Puppy Pen.

Of course, our dogs are also trained by our fantastic volunteers, and Caroline has been taking Forrest out and about to get used to being in public places. The idea is that we want them to be so well-behaved that they're no bother to anyone, and a deaf person can take them anywhere with confidence.

A typical location for this sort of training is in places where there can be a bit of noise and bustle, such as a café. It's no problem for Forrest. He just comes in...

... and lies down!

No fuss, no bother. He's a cool customer.

How about the barber shop?

Again, no problem for our Forrest. He's a happy soul no matter where he is, it would seem.

And finally, a lovely shot of him just staring into space, contemplating life.

We hope you enjoyed this latest instalment of Forrest's training journey. We're enjoying telling you all about it! Until next time, thank you for sponsoring Forrest.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
