Gordon and friends

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Let's start this Pupdate with a bit of a splash...

Looks like fun!

In previous Pupdates, we've told you about Gordon's family, and how he's growing up. Well, here he is even more grown up, alongside a family member!

He's quite a lot bigger now than Sally, who is volunteer Vicky's own pet dog. They still love each other though. Isn't it funny how their poses are the same? They reflect each other's body language. That's the sign of true friendship!

Family and friends go together well. Nancy is a member of Vicky's big, happy family, and she's incredibly fond of Gordon. He's incredibly fond of her too!

Maybe it's because, when he feels a bit snoozy, she's around to provide a comfortable snoozing place. But it won't be long before Gordon's too big for her lap, unless of course Nancy grows at a similar rate.

There's always Matilda too. Is it just us, or did he actually grow between the last photo and this one?

Nancy and Gordon have plenty of fun times. Here they are enjoying a box together!

We could say it won't be long before Gordon's too big for the box, but that would imply he's going to be gigantic. Labs are lovely, large, friendly dogs, but we really hope he doesn't break any world records for being the largest Lab in the world.

Did we say family can be friends too? We surely did. This is Gordon looking deliriously happy with his half-sister Esther. It's difficult to tell which is which. We would normally say Gordon's the one with his tongue out, but it would appear to be a family trait.

Are food bowls 'friends'?

In Gordon's mind it would appear so.

Please sir, can I have some more?

How could you resist? That's of course exactly what Vicky and family must do. Labs love their food so very much, but Vicky will make sure he's healthy as well as happy. Which means she has to resist... must... resist.

But those eyes... and that's quite a boop-able nose...

Even during lockdowns, Vicky has made sure Gordon gets out and about, all while adhering to government guidelines. Here he is giving us some free ad space for the Little Grange, which is a portable coffee shop stationed outside The Grange restaurant at our Southern Training Centre in the Chilterns. Talk about reflecting body language: Gordon's head almost exactly matches the 'Puppy Sponsorship' logo at the top left of the photo! All he needs is a love heart on his right ear!

And finally, remember how we said Gordon could only stick his head under the sofa as he's grown? Well it looks like he's figured out a way to get under it again! Or, at least, half of him.

Until your next Pupdate, thank you so much for sponsoring Gordon!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
