Grace loves life with Steve, Jo and Alfie

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Let's start this Pupdate with Grace having fun with one of her favourite toys - an ice cube!

And if she isn't playing with her favourite ice cube, it's frisbee time.

This is all part of helping Grace to feel at home, and to bond with Jo and Steve. They're her Volunteer Puppy Trainers, who will bring her up for her first year. They'll introduce her to the wider world, and give her training, as well as lots of cuddles and love.

We simply could not function without our volunteers. They're amazing.

As you can see, Grace isn't wanting for toys!

She has a red frisbee too...

... which she became very, er, attached to! (Don't worry, she wasn't tangled for long).

She also has some big chewy key toys.

And a big green ball for playing with in the garden.

In between playtimes, we've been making sure she's growing at the right rate for a happy, healthy puppy.

She's also visited the vets, who loved having a cute puppy around and gave her a clean bill of health.

Grace has also made a new friend!

Jo explains: "Her 'very big brother' is Alfie. He is our 10-year-old Newfoundland. She loves licking his face especially first thing in the morning.

"He has shown her how to have fun in the river. Out walking she often has a play with his tail, and they love playing tug of war. Even though she is so much smaller she wins everytime as she just never gives up."

It looks like they share toys indoors too.

Back to Steve: "When she gets an attack of the zoomies, she does laps round the house, hurdling over him. Which he has actually learnt to love."

And after the zoomies, time for dreamies! Still best of pals together.

When our puppies have 'big brothers' like this, we like to think they'll grow to be the same size some day. Given the size of Alfie, we're not sure this will happen, but that's fine. Grace by name, Grace by nature.

And after all the zoomies, a bit of 'me' time for Grace.

We hope you enjoyed catching up with Grace (and Alfie!). Until next time, thank you again for sponsoring Grace!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
