Gwen, Victoria, Becky, Esther, Alexander and Juliana (and Panda)

Gwen's Volunteer Puppy Trainer Sandy has shared lots of photos of some family reunions, in which Gwen was in seventh heaven because she got to cuddle with lots of children!
This is something we've noticed about Gwen: she adores children. She's so gentle around them, and so cuddly. All our dogs are great with all people, of course, but with Gwen there's something very special about it, as you'll hopefully see.
First of all, there was Gwen and Sandy's granddaughter Victoria. They got up to plenty of fun things with each other.
The day started with Gwen waking Victoria up when she heard the alarm!
That's exactly how Gwen will wake up her eventual deaf recipient. She'll hear the alarm and get on the bed (quite possibly still with Panda in her mouth because wherever Gwen goes, Panda goes too). So, where the alarm clock fails, Gwen will succeed, because a happy dog on your bed is hard to ignore! And what a lovely way to start the day. Victoria certainly looks pleased about it!
Then, Victoria and her mum Becky (Sandy's daughter) all went for a nice walk along the river.
When they got back, Victoria and Gwen had plenty of snuggles, which are distinct from cuddles and so they must do both. As Sandy puts it: "Well if I’m not allowed to sleep in Victoria’s bed, maybe she could sleep in mine?!"
Quite! Although if you notice, Panda is also allowed to sleep in Gwen's bed. It's a very crowded place!
At the end of a fun day together, it was time for to go to bed (her own bed), but not until she’d had a goodnight cuddle with Gwen. We absolutely love this photo. It says everything about Gwen - how soft and gentle she is, how affectionate, and how much of a bond she forms with people. She's such a special soul.
With Victoria all packed off to bed, Gwen turned her attention to Becky, who also got what looks like a cuddle and a snuggle in one go.
At another daughter’s house now, and even more young people to enjoy! Sandy tells us: "Gwen proved she loves teenagers too by offering Panda to my granddaughter Esther. Gwen really enjoyed spending time in different houses andinteracting with lots of different age groups."
It's a rare honour to be offered Panda. Esther is a very privileged young lady!
Let's go down the age groups now. Here's how Gwen reacted on meeting Sandy's three-year-old grandson Alexander, who had come all the way from Chicago to visit.
Again, Sandy puts it best: "Gwen just loves cuddles with everyone, even the vet and the dog groomer." Dogs loving vets! Who'd have thought it? Now that's a measure of how special Gwen is!
After Alexander and Gwen had been prized apart, they went for yet another refreshing, fun walk. Sandy tells us: "Gwen really enjoyed being out and about with someone who loves to run and jump around as much as she does."
She does look like she's enjoying herself doesn't she? Dogs smile, and Gwen definitely smiles. She doesn't have Panda when going for walks, but she knows Panda is waiting for her when she gets back. It's all good for Gwen!
Back to Sandy: "She was so gentle with my nine-month-old old granddaughter Juliana, Alexander's little sister, who loved her in return."
Sandy gives us the words again: "Panda, a gorgeous baby she's never met before, and a tummy-rub - what more could a dog want? Sheer bliss!"
Sheer bliss indeed. Gwen is such a happy little girl surrounded by so much love. It's been absolutely the best upbringing a hearing dogs puppy could have, and her character is shining through. This is thanks to Sandy and her family, but it's also thanks to you for your kindness in supporting her. So, again, as always, from all of us at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, from Sandy, and from Victoria, Becky, Esther, Alexander, Panda and of course Gwen... thank you!
