Hebe now loves life with Fiona

Posted by Brendan Cooper

If there's one thing our puppies do, it's progress - ever onward, ever upward, ever forward along their journeys, thanks to you, their sponsors.

Hebe has moved on too! She's now living with Fiona, one of our amazing volunteers who has looked after plenty of our pups before.

This is because Hebe has such great attributes that we're considering her for the Puppy Breeding Scheme. This is where we take the 'superstars' of our current generation, with the best combination of temperament, intelligence and loyalty, and, from them, breed the next generation of hearing dogs.

It's a very exciting development, and we'll tell you more in your next full update. For now however, here's life with Hebe... and Fiona!

First up, here's Fiona's take on how Hebe coped with the move: "Hebe has settled in really well with us and loves her new house mates, 7-year-old cocker spaniel Ginny, and 3-year-old cockapoo Chilli who are both demo dogs."

Here's a lovely photo of them all snuggled up together! Interesting fact: Chilli is the half-brother of another of our sponsor pups called Nutmeg, and Ginny is his mum!

Fiona continues: "Hebe and Chilli love playing rough and tumble together and chasing each other around the garden. Hebe thoroughly enjoys our walks by the river as she loves going swimming and then when she gets home there's nothing better than curling up in a nice cosy bed for a good sleep!"

Cue a photo of cause...

... and effect!

Back to Fiona: "She's lost all her puppy fluff now and has a beautiful silky golden coat. She knows she's a pretty girl and was very proud of the fact that she was the face of the Late Summer Show."

She is definitely a pretty girl - now she's a pin-up!

"She still loves tummy tickles and one of her favourite positions for playing with a toy is lying on her back!", Fiona tells us. This is so funny: just go through Hebe's other Puppy Pen Pupdates and you'll see plenty of photos of her inviting more tickle-tums.

"To sum her up, Hebe is a very affectionate bundle of fun."

And so pretty with it...

That's all for now. We're still so excited about the possibility of her being a mum to the next generation of hearing dogs. If she does this, she'll be helping not just one, but many deaf people for quite some time to come!

Thank you for sponsoring Hebe!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
