Water, water everywhere for our playful pup Honey
Posted by Brendan Cooper
Honey’s been going on plenty of exciting trips recently. She went with her volunteer socialisers, Louise and Gary, to the Lake District in September where she had tremendous fun splashing around in the water. The watery theme continued with a visit to the seaside in Kent in December. We’re building up a real library of sponsor pups enjoying the beach, and Honey certainly continues this fine tradition. Says Gary: “She didn’t quite know what to make of the waves, it was quite rough and she was very intrigued by all the movement, but she finally decided to go paddling and then run away when the waves came!”
Above, you can see her contemplating the sea. It’s quite a dramatic photo don’t you think?
Her tail’s up! She’s definitely looking forward to this.
Suddenly, she’s not so sure. The ears are a dead giveaway. The sea has surprised her, it’s obviously moving around a bit too much for her liking.
And this is the classic “I thought I liked it but now I want it to go away” pose we’ve seen so many other pups strike in the past.
As well as trips away, they go on plenty of shorter local walks together. Honey had a stand-off with a cygnet when they were walking round Denham gravel pit lakes a couple of months ago.
She hadn’t seen such a big bird swimming in a lake before! And it’s not even fully grown yet! Mind you, neither is she. Perhaps they’ll meet again next year, same place?
Apart from that, she’s been enjoying plenty of activities, such as playing with her toys, sunning herself, and sleeping. Is sleeping an activity? Honey seems to think so…
But it’s not all play. Honey is starting to do some soundwork now, which is when she starts learning about important sounds. She’s already finding an alarm clock and taking people to show them where it is. She’s only just started this training but she’s doing well – as long as there are treats by the alarm clock!
We’ll tell you more about this in her next printed update.
In the meantime, why not drop Honey a line via the comments below?
