Hope: Snoozes, Arya, and climbing

Posted by Brendan Cooper

More Hope! Yaaaay!

We recently went through Hope's photos, to see whether there were any themes throughout her training journey. And we think we found three: she does like a doze every now and then; she had a lovely time with Arya; and she's definitely a climber.

First, Arya.

We've mentioned Arya before. She was another sponsor puppy that her Volunteer Puppy Trainers Barry and Liz welcomed into their home, and she was a bit older than Hope. So, she was like Hope's big sister! She was also cute and fluffy, just like Hope, and together they've had an absolute hoot.

After a bit of an introductory sniff, they realised they could be best of friends.

Then it was share and share alike, whether going to sleep together with such long, shaggy coats that it was hard to tell where one dog ended and the other began...

... or being trimmed together, so that they look a lot less shaggy, and we can finally tell them apart!

Secondly, snoozes.

There's nothing wrong with a puppy having a snooze. They're so active, and get so much happy uptime with their volunteers, that they can also spontaneously have downtime too.

Here's Hope 'learning to be a hearing dog' by having a kip.

Actually, that really is her learning. She's just settling nicely in a public place, being no bother to anyone. If she wants to have forty winks, then that's fine. It's testament to how comfortable she feels in her own skin, how confident that everything is fine, because she's been brought up so well by Liz and Barry.

Hope could also have a good old snooze out of her coat too!

Sweet dreams Hope.

And she's off again! Even as a tiny puppy, she liked climbing, especially big logs.

This never changed, even as she grew.

She even progressed to jumping over them and looking extremely dramatic, especially among the bluebells.

In our puppy play pen, she continued to ascend.

Look at how confident she is! She's such a dynamic dog (when she isn't snoozing, that is).

Finally, here she is atop a trig point in the Chilterns, although we suspect maybe Liz had something to do with the staging here!

So, snoozes, Arya, snoozes with Arya, and climbing. It's all good for Hope!

Until next time, thank you so much for sponsoring her!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
