It’s time to catch up with Ivy, your adorable sponsor puppy!

Ivy has made a brilliant start to her training journey.

Guy and Heather, Ivy’s volunteer puppy trainers, are gradually building Ivy’s confidence in public places. When visiting these places, Ivy will wear her “I’m learning to be a hearing dog” jacket.

Here she is wearing it out for the first time…

Looking very beautiful and smart, Ivy!

It is important that Ivy feels happy and comfortable wearing this jacket as she will be wearing it throughout her entire hearing dog training. The burgundy jacket symbolises that she is learning to be a future life-changing superstar!

Ivy was very excited to show off her new jacket on a trip to the garden centre.

Here is Ivy looking very lovely in front of some pretty flowers…

Garden centres are ideal for young pups like Ivy, as they are quiet and relaxed environments.

As Ivy moves through her training, she will gradually be introduced to busier places once she feels ready and comfortable to do so.

Ivy showed amazing focus and was not too distracted by all the interesting new sights and smells.

Another new experience which Ivy has recently been introduced to is public transport.

The first stage of teaching Ivy to be comfortable around public transport is by introducing her to the unusual sounds and sights. With this in mind, Guy recently took Ivy to a local train station where Ivy saw her first ever train…

As you can see, Ivy settled perfectly on the platform and was not phased by the giant moving train coming in behind her. When she first heard the ‘beeping’ sound of the train doors, she briefly looked around to see what it was, but quickly regained her focus on Guy. We are so impressed.

Now we know that Ivy is relaxed and calm around trains, she can begin practising travelling on them too. Exciting!

Don’t worry Ivy… it won’t be long until you will be going on lots of train adventures!
