Juno combines training with a lovely life

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Juno is combining a wonderful life, enjoying being out and about as well as indoors and snoozy, with her training under the close supervision of Tamsin and Tunja.

First up, the important stuff: training. Juno has passed her Kennel Club bronze good citizen award and now she's focussing on her Hearing Dogs Star Awards.

Below you can see Tunja helping Juno with that focus. Juno loves her ball, so moving her focus away from the ball to Tunja is really hard work for her. However, when she does, Tunja rewards her with praise, treats, and even a play with the ball! This is all part of helping Juno learn that all good things come to puppies who wait.

Tunja tells us: "She's enjoying her sound work training. Her favourite is nudging you when she hears a squeaker - she gives you a good hard prod (two if you ignore the first one) so her recipient definitely isn't going to miss any sounds she alerts to! She's also learning to come and nudge you when the cooker timer goes off. We're working up to the alarm clock alert, at the moment she is enjoying bouncing up and down on the bed too much (and licking sleeping people's ears) to practice that one."

Did we say training is the important stuff? Well, so's having fun! Here's Juno having lots of it...

In your last update we showed you how Juno loved her tennis ball. Tamsin told us that Juno has two, and it looks like this might be the other one. She seems fairly happy with this one too!

She also amuses Tamsin and Tunja, simply by being a bit of a clown, and perhaps by not even realising it at the time...

Finally, Tunja took some photos of Juno out and about in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.

She looked down...

... then up...

... then straight ahead...

So, we animated them!

We hope you enjoyed this latest insight into Juno's life. Thank you for sponsoring her!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
