Kallie and friend

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Kallie is now living with her volunteer puppy socialisers. These are lovely people who look after our pups for their first year. They give them basic training, and make sure they learn how to be good puppies, all ready for their advanced hearing dog training.

She is living with Sharon and Peter, who have looked after plenty of puppies. In fact, when Kallie came to stay, they already had another pup called Selwyn, a magnificent light-coloured Labrador who was on the verge of his advanced training.

They made friends from the start!

Here they are, with Selwyn looking determined and focused, while Kallie looks a bit unsure, probably because, well, she's a puppy and doesn't quite know what to do yet!

They had a nice line in both looking cute, especially around food times. Kallie somehow managed to find some focus when food was involved.

When they'd played and eaten, they snoozed together.

Then Selwyn left to start his advanced training - and Kallie lost her friend!

Still, she found time to play by herself.

And then she made new friends.

And now she finds plenty of time to snooze on her own, without distractions, in the big warm bed Selwyn vacated.

That's all for now. Come back soon and see how Kallie is getting along! And thank you so much for sponsoring her.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
