Libby loves flowers - and life!
Posted by Brendan Cooper
It's time for another Libby Pupdate!
Let's kick off with a beautiful photo her volunteer dog trainer Mary shared with us - Libby among the bluebells.
"She loves playing in the parks," Mary tells us. "She has lots of doggy friends whom she loves playing with."
It looks like she also just likes looking pretty in the bluebells from time to time! Indeed, flowers seem to occupy a lot of her time, which is just as well because she sort of suits them, don't you think?
What a happy Libby!
Back to Mary: "Libby has made my garden and flower beds into a golf course with a lot more than 18 holes. She just loves to dig new holes."
Hmmm. We're not sure she's supposed to be doing that. We're confident however that, with Mary's help, Libby will be encouraged to stop. It just takes lots of treats and praise, and making Libby feel that her training is a big, fun game.
Mary continues: "She is very friendly to all who she meets. She has done some fundraising collections with us and is a hit with the public and she is very good and lets them stroke her."
What a clever girl. It's important that Libby is happy meeting new people. She's so pretty, she'll need to get used to the attention. She looks particularly impressive in her 'I'm learning to be a hearing dog' burgundy coat.
The coat is important. When Libby graduates, it will people that the person Libby is with is deaf. It's a signal that really helps deaf people, because it changes other people's attitudes significantly. Instead of them being impatient or annoyed, for example if a deaf person doesn't hear them asking to make way in a supermarket, they are very often much more understanding and even interested in knowing more about this clever little dog. Libby will make this massive change to a deaf person's life one day.
Anyway, back to the fun! Here's Libby, quite simply, on a log...
... and here's Libby with Mary, who's taken all these photos and shared all these details.
They look like a great team! Libby is happy just sitting on public transport. It's exactly what we want, and it's with Mary's training that she's doing so well. Mary sums Libby up as "Affectionate, lovable, mischievous and full of character." We agree!
She's also doing so well because of your support. So until next time, thank you again for sponsoring Libby!
