Lily and friends

Watch out, here comes Lily...!

That's actually pretty much a perfect recall. This is when a puppy comes back after calling or whistling. It's really important: deaf people need to know that their companion won't disappear off into the forest, sniffing out exciting smells, and leaving them all on their own. Same in the parks, playing with other dogs, or having refreshing walks across the fields. So, Lily's Volunteer Trainer Vanita and her family have taught her to come running whenever they call her. And she does!

Sometimes, she even flies...

Lily is doing really well, and has made lots of friends. Again, this is training: she's going to visit lots of different faces and places when she's a hearing dog, so she's being encouraged to do this while growing up too.

Here she is with her pal Roxy, a lovely little Shih Tzu, a friend of the family who joins Lily for fun days by the river.

Look at their little faces! Awwwww!

Lily also makes friends with random dogs while out and about. This lurcher was happy to make her acquaintance, even though she was a bit damp.

Back to the fun days by the river! Here's Isla, one of Vanita's daughters, having a bit of a cuddle in a very picturesque setting. This is exactly what we mean by Lily being brought up by a loving family - she looks so happy!

Lily also adores Kara, Isla's older sister, especially when they get to hold hands.

So, Lily really has it all - energy, love, tenderness, intelligence, charm, and oodles of fun!

And, just to show how adaptable she is, not only can she run and fly, she can also just totally zonk out in your lap, if you're lucky.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
