Marnie is loving life with Maggie
Posted by Brendan Cooper
For the first year of her life as a Hearing Dogs puppy, Marnie is living with a volunteer puppy socialiser - called Maggie! It's always nice when we have dogs and humans with similar names, makes everything so much easier.
Maggie is going to raise Marnie to be a well-behaved puppy, taking her to puppy classes and helping her mature until she's ready to learn about alering deaf people to sounds. It's all about becoming a good, sociable puppy, which is why we call this 'socalising'.
But first, let's look at a photo Maggie took of Marnie looking cute!
All together now: Awwwwwww!
Maggie tells us about the first days with Marnie: "Marnie was quite cautious the first few times I took her out into the big wide world. Now we have overcome the nervousness with other dogs and she approaches and plays with dogs of all sizes when off-lead in the local field."
This is really positive news. Marnie is already growing in confidence, with Maggie's help.
This is Marnie and her brother Marlin who lives just around the corner! "They have regular play dates and go on walks together", Maggie says. "They had a little snuffle around the garden and didn't mind the cold one bit." It must be nice to be so fluffy that you stay warm. However, we're not sure which is which! Can you tell? Maybe comment below and let us know which one you think is Marnie!
Maggie continues: "We have visited the vet the garden centre and coffee shop and the library. Because Marnie is such a gorgeous little pup she gets lots of attention everywhere we go. She loves people and children particularly."
Of course, our puppies have downtime too. Here's Marnie fast asleep with her head in a boot. Like you do.
"Marnie loves boxes and plastic bottles to chew", Maggie tells us. "This one lasted a day before it was totally trashed." You wouldn't believe it with that 'butter wouldn't melt in my mouth' expression, would you?
"Same goes for socks", Maggie says. Cue 'that look' again.
"And plants..."
To sum Marnie up? "I am really enjoying looking after Marnie: she is a bundle of cuddles."
Marnie is having a great time, and it's a very positive start to her training journey. Until your next pupdate, thank you for sponsoring her!
