Meet the Chris Packham pups!

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Rascal has experienced a health issue recently that means we have had to take the difficult decision to postpone his training. We did not take this decision lightly, and as we hope you’ll appreciate, the welfare of our puppies is always our top priority. The good news is that Micky, Rascal's brother, is now a replacement sponsor pup. He’s so like Rascal – energetic and full of life – and his volunteer puppy socialiser says “If Rascal wasn’t called Rascal, then Micky would be.” You can click here to follow Micky's journey...

Chris Packham loves Poodles. He also has a soft spot for hearing dogs, because he has Ménière’s disease which has deafened him in one ear.

So we’re absolutely thrilled that Chris wants to sponsor one of our Poodle pups!

It's incredible to think that this cute, cuddly little bundle of fluff will become an amazing hearing dog which will transform the life of a deaf person.

Chris has always loved Poodles. He thinks they’re super-intelligent and loyal, which is why he has two of his own, called Itchy and Scratchy.

He’s right, of course, and that’s why they make such great hearing dogs. So we have high hopes for Chris’s pup, even though it’s still such a young thing.

It’s such early days however, we don’t actually know which perky Poodle pup Chris Packham will pick! (How’s that for a tongue twister?) It doesn’t really matter, because all five pups in the litter are adorable – little black fluffy balls that actually all look the same right now!

When Chris picks his pup, and it has a name, we'll update this page. In the meantime, enjoy these photos of the litter looking adorable with their proud mum!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
