Fun on the beach for Nutmeg

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Nutmeg continues to have a wonderful life with Emma, his volunteer dog trainer.

As well as helping him learn how to become an amazing hearing dog, Emma takes Nutmeg out to places so that he can experience the world in all its glory. This includes the slightly damp, cold bits, like the sea.

"His first foray into swimming in the sea was encouraged by the family who were already in there," Emma tells us. Here he is, noticing them beckoning him in, stage left.

"He seemed to enjoy it but didn’t stay in for long!"

This is so funny. We have plenty of shots of dogs that are so curious about this big, wibbly-wobbly thing called the sea, who make tentative steps in, get confident, then suddenly decide they've had enough! This is usually when they get wet and realise that wet can also be cold.

Emma continues: "He was convinced the sea was drinkable but only for a short while. He loved being out in the strong winds and rain, slightly more than we did!"

It's good to know that Nutmeg can enjoy himself no matter what! Good for Nutmeg!

What else can Emma tell us? "Nutmeg loves to play in the garden taking shoes one by one, so we can never find them (but never damages them). He has been known to have up to eight shoes dotted around the garden!"

He also seems to like playing tug of war...

And finally... the classic snooze shot. A lot of our updates end with snoozes. This is because our puppies have such fun-filled lives. It's also because, well, puppies snoozing look very cute!

Sleep well, Nutmeg!

And thank you for sponsoring him!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
