Otis and shoes, friends, footballs and bags

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Time for more Otis!

As we implied in the title, Otis loves shoes. Here's the proof!

otis-shoe-977-550.jpgRachel, his Volunteer Dog Trainer, explains: "Otis loves chewing shoes. If you ever can’t find a shoe, you can guarantee that it will be somewhere near his bed. Trainers, wellies, school shoes, slippers, Otis is happy to have a chew on them all."

That's a particularly tasty-looking red trainer he's got there. He looks fairly happy about it don't you think? Perhaps it tastes of strawberries?

We also implied bags - and here's Otis in one (or at least, his head is, nearly):

Back to Rachel: "Otis likes nothing more than helping to unpack the shopping, playing with the paper bags being one of his favourite pastimes. That and jumping in and out of the crates put down by the delivery men."

We think Otis is fairly fresh, and we don't think we'll be asking for our money back too soon.

How about the footballs we promised? Here you go!

Back to Rachel: "Otis loves playing in the garden. He especially loves chasing balls, children and leaves."

You can clearly see that 'climb every mountain' expression on his face. That's his football, and nobody else is going to get it, even if it might be almost as large as him.

And finally, friends. Otis has plenty of them!

Rachel explains what's going on below: "This is Otis’s first encounter with another dog, a 7-year-old Golden Retriever called Flossie. She has the patience of a saint. As you can see, quite a size difference!"

Yes, there is, but as we've pointed out, nothing seems to faze Otis!

Do dads count as friends? They do with Otis!

Here's Otis with his dad, called Charlie!

According to Rachel, "We met him completely randomly at the Hearing Dogs training centre. Obviously Otis has a bit of growing to do to catch up! He gets his colouring from his Mum, Daisy."

We'd love to get a photo of him with Daisy, and when we do, we'll let you know about it. We're working hard on Otis's first full training update which should be coming your way soon. Until then, thank you for sponsoring Otis!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
