Clever Riley

Welcome back to Riley’s Puppy Pen!
It looks like we’ve caught Riley in the middle of hanging up the washing…
… what a helpful pup!
Riley is enjoying learning new skills at puppy class, with Laura, his Hearing Dogs trainer. Puppy classes are brilliant for building strong relationships between a pup and their trainer, which in turn leads to training being more successful, because of that great bond.
Wow! Look how focused Riley is on Laura.
It’s time for some treats. Now Riley must use his super sense of smell to sniff out the tasty treats hidden under the cones.
“Yum, yum, yum!”
When Riley does something well, he receives lots of treats and praise. This reward-based training helps to make learning lots of fun!
Riley also loved this agility obstacle course...
This obstacle training is brilliant for building up Riley’s coordination skills, as he is learning to be mindful of his steps and where he is putting his feet. It is also a great opportunity for Riley to get used to new objects and be confident with different sights, whilst also having lots of fun at the same time!
Riley was very excited to put this obstacle training to the test when he visited a garden centre with Victoria, his volunteer puppy trainer. Garden centres are ideal for young pups like Riley, as they are quiet and relaxed environments and not too overwhelming.
Riley behaved beautifully and navigated the tight spaces and unusual objects with complete ease…
What a superstar!
That’s nearly it for today. But before we end this episode, Riley would like to remind us all that he is still the world champion of cute puppy dog eyes…
Oh Riley, we do love you!
Thanks for joining us on another episode of Riley’s training journey.
Until next time, from all us at Hearing Dogs, thank you for sponsoring Riley.
