Robyn's lovely little personality quirks

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Welcome to the next Robyn Puppy Pen!

All our puppies are unique, but some of them develop quite, er, unusual traits. Volunteer Puppy Trainer Heather explains what's happening below: "A few of her most unusual sleeping positions, she can stay like that for ages, hanging out of her bed...

... or on her back!"

How funny! It's these little things that will amuse her eventual deaf partner. Sometimes deaf people can feel depressed or isolated, which is why we want our hearing dogs to have oodles of personality, as well as helping them practically by alerting to sounds. It would seem Robyn's not lacking in the character department!

Back to Heather: "A new funny little thing which she has developed over the last few months is that she loves to have something, anything in her mouth! She now always has a kong, blanket or toy that she will carry with her, we keep finding things discarded all over the house."

Here's Robyn with a plastic frisbee in her mouth, which she is either offering to Charlie, Heather and Guy's own pet dog, or taking away from!

Over to Guy this time: "The brown teddy was a birthday gift from one of her holiday cover volunteers. It was a toy she took everywhere with her!"

That is surely the best kind of birthday gift - the kind you can carry around in your mouth!

We've already shown you how Robyn and Guy are basically besotted with each other. This continues.

Is that a quirk of personality? Not really - all our dogs are very loving and caring. Although it's clear that Robyn is extremely affectionate, which is lovely.

And finally, how do you think Robyn is feeling about all of this?

That's right - extremely happy!

There is nothing that warms our hearts more than a happy hearing dog. It's everything we strive for, to bring up happy, healthy dogs that will, in turn, help people with hearing loss to be happy and healthy too. We couldn't do this without volunteers like Guy and Heather, and we also couldn't do this without support from kind sponsors such as you.

So, from all of us at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, once again, it's a huge thank you for sponsoring Robyn.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
