Romeo’s Birthday: Play, play, play, grass, grass, grass, sleep
Posted by Brendan Cooper
Romeo is a real character. Quite apart from the fact that the sun makes his ears light up ginger, he has a certain special something that makes him shine. He recently celebrated his first birthday in true puppy style.
The day starts with a cake. All the best days start with a cake, especially when you’re an excited pup.
Romeo is joined by a birthday party friend for post-cake Kongs. To this day, his socialiser Joyce says that she’s never seen a dog destroy Kongs quite as quickly and completely as Romeo.
He quickly becomes inseparable from his birthday present – a green ‘thing’. He’s looking lovingly at Joyce, his socialiser, as if to say ‘Thank you for my green thing.’
This look is more as if to say ‘Thank you but I think you’ll find the green thing is mine now.”
And this look says “No, really, the green thing really is mine now and you’re not allowed to play with it.”
After the cake and presents, it’s time to play outside. Romeo’s ears are about to light up in this photo because he thinks he might have spotted… a ball! This also seems to make his tongue stick out.
He has! He has spotted a ball! And he’s caught it! And now he’s running around with it!
The only problem with running around in long grass is that you get so wet! So Romeo gives himself a good, birthday-boy shakedown…
… and has a little happy birthday dance with some of Joyce’s family in the garden…
… and finally, after such a long, exciting day, relaxes in his bed wearing his onesie. Happy Birthday Romeo!
