Rose: A day (off) in the life

Posted by Brendan Cooper

What exactly do our puppies do all day?

Well, they obviously work hard so that they can become amazing, fully trained hearing dogs.

But they have plenty of fun too! Here’s a fun day off in the life of Rose…

Her day starts with a bit of a lie-in. We wish we could have photographed the snores. If we could, they would be really big and the picture would be shaky.

Next up, a refreshing dip in the Olympic-sized swimming pool. This involves plenty of splashing and chasing her ball in tight circles. Rebecca Adlington would be proud.

The result is a slightly soggy doggy and a very chewed tennis ball. This is the only time Rose looks slightly sad – when she can’t play the instant she wants to. The only thing for it is…

… another dip, this time al fresco. Rose lives with volunteer socialiser Christine, her husband Mike and their daughter Rebekah, who live close to The Grange training centre in Buckinghamshire. There is plenty of beautiful countryside for her to play around in.

And so back to bed! This is admittedly not a very elegant pose but it’s Rose’s favourite position when she’s particularly relaxed.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
