Rose shows how to stay cool

Posted by Brendan Cooper

If you've been feeling the heat over the past few weeks (yes, this is being written while it's hot in the UK - hard to believe), then spare a thought for our canine friends. Fortunately Rose knows a thing or two about staying cool.

Below you can see how Rose stays cool in the garden. There's plenty of shade in a typical English garden it's true, but sometimes you need that extra something. Here Rose demonstrates how a small paddling pool is the perfect size for a medium-sized dog. We think the tube to the right is connected to the pool, not Rose!

Rose is now into her advanced training, which means she 'works' during weekdays at our training centre, and lives with volunteers, Ian and Dee, during weeknights and weekends. It's a wonderful arrangement which we call 'Bed and Breakfast'.

When they're all out and about together, our green and pleasant land has plenty of forest and woodland to keep a hot dog happy. But sometimes that isn't enough either. Rose's solution is simply to find a cool pool and sit in it for a while. This is fine for Rose but not so great for Ian and Dee when they have to clean her afterwards!

And sometimes, one puddle isn't enough.

We'll tell you more about Rose's life with Ian and Dee in your next mini update. In the meantime, thank you for being her sponsor, and please leave a comment below!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
