Rose’s poses

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Rose continues to do really well. She still lives with her volunteer socialiser Christine, and is forging ahead with her training. We showed you how much she’s enjoying herself in your last printed update, looking especially happy when she met her dad, called Kody. She continues to be sociable, making friends wherever she goes, and she definitely mixes work with pleasure! Here are just some of the many talents she’s developed over the past few months…

Playing football

Rose seems to have a desire to be goalkeeper. Or ballkeeper. It doesn’t really matter, so long as she gets to ‘keep’ something! In this case, it’s both. Given that the outfield seems to consist of a hedge, there isn’t much goalkeeping to be done, which Rose seems perfectly happy about.

Hiding

Make no mistake, hiding isn’t as easy as you might think. For example, how do you ensure you really can’t be seen? And how do you stay still for more than a few seconds? Here you can see Rose has cracked both problems. She’s able to remain stationary because she has a tennis ball (again). As long as the ball doesn’t move, neither does she. And she really can’t be seen, because she’s almost totally obscured by a small log. At least, that what she thinks, and who are we to argue?

Running

This is the first of Rose’s poses with a new friend. You’ll notice the tennis ball (yet again). The friend looks very interested in the ball. This is quite an action shot, with Rose’s ears fanning out nicely in the sea breeze. It’s not so much a question of getting Rose to start running, as stopping her. And that’s always the sign of a happy, healthy dog.

Bathing

Rose loves playing around in the sea. She hasn’t quite progressed to becoming fully immersed yet, but she’s perfectly happy paddling. We’re not sure exactly what her tail is telling us, but we think it might be along the lines of “I’m really enjoying myself here.”

Looking cute

Another pose with a friend. We don’t actually train our pups to look cute, but more often than not they manage it quite naturally. Rose is a great example here.

Sleeping

This is usually the outcome of having so much fun. And, like all her other activities, Rose is really good at it. She’s even temporarily forgotten her tennis ball, although it’s a safe bet it’s nearby, perhaps just off-camera, maybe in Christine’s pocket.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
