Happiness is a dog called Sandie

Posted by Brendan Cooper

It's Sandie time again!

Sandie is such a happy dog. She really enjoys spending time with Luna, her fabulous furry friend.

They're such different shapes, sizes, colours (and breeds!) but the one thing they share is, they're dogs, and dogs just want to have fun.

Say 'Cheeeeeeese!'

What else makes Sandie happy?

Well, looking very smart in her burgundy 'I'm learning to be a hearing dog' coat, of course.

Here she is looking ahead, contemplating her future as a hearing dog, and changing the life of a deaf person.

Please hold that pose Sandie...

Doesn't she look great? One day that coat will help signal that the person she's with is deaf. It's a very powerful 'flag' - it can completely change situations.

Sometimes deaf partners tell us that people can be quite rude when they don't realise they're deaf, because deafness is a 'hidden disability'. We've even had people push their supermarket trolleys into them because they didn't hear them asking to be let by. But as soon as they see that burgundy coat, everything changes: they become very accommodating, polite and helpful.

And, apart from anything, Sandie's colouring matches it very well, don't you think?

That's Luna and coats. What else makes Sandie happy?

Oh yes - passing Puppy Star Awards!

These are the 'milestones' we use to measure a puppy's progress. We've told you all about this in your training updates, but suffice to say, Sandie was very proud to pass!

She even had a little sniff. That's what success smells like Sandie.

We'll leave you with another beautiful portrait of this lovely lady.

She's something very special, and she's captured all our hearts.

We hope you agree, because she's come this far with your support! So, once again, thank you so much for sponsoring Sandie.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
