Super Star

Posted by Elizabeth Murphy

It’s time to catch up with the adorable Star!

Star is still living with Grace, her volunteer puppy trainer, who is helping Star shine in her training.

Star seems to get more amazing every time we catch up with her. Recently, Star has been helping to collect generous donations for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People...

We’re sure that Star’s adorable face, personality and burgundy “I’m learning” jacket helped to raise lots of money and awareness for our wonderful charity.

When Star isn’t being a fabulous fluffy fundraiser, she is having lots of fun at puppy class...

Here is Star practising her sitting and walking nicely on a lead (what we call heelwork). As you can see, Star is excellent at staying completely focused. Practising these skills regularly is important as it means that Star should feel happy and confident to stay focused on her future deaf partner too. Well done, Star!

The puppy class fun doesn’t stop there! Our brilliant dog trainers have all sorts of creative and wonderful ways to keep our pups entertained.

Here is Star playing the muffin tin game. This is a super fun enrichment activity where Star has to sniff out the yummy treats which are hidden under the tennis balls. Puzzle solving games like this help to keep Star happy, healthy and calm throughout the day.

It looks like Star has got the hang of it…

Star loves the muffin tin game!

What else has Star been up to? Well, she has been shopping…(again!) Star seems to really enjoy shopping.

This time, Star was testing out new dog beds and it looks like she has found her favourite…

“This one will do nicely!”

Shopping complete and now it’s time for a little rest.

Here is Star showing that she can settle superbly wherever she goes…

Star looks so cosy and relaxed… we wonder what she is dreaming about!

Star also looks very comfortable wearing her “I’m learning” Hearing Dogs jacket. This is very exciting because one day, Star will wear her qualified Hearing Dogs jacket with pride and help a deaf person to feel reconnected with the world around them.

None of this would be possible without your support in sponsoring Star in her training to become a life-changing hearing dog.

So, from Star, and everyone at Hearing Dogs, thank you for sponsoring the very special Star.
