Teddy when he was very (very) young

Posted by Brendan Cooper

It's Teddy time again! Let's jump straight in...

As you can see, he's full of beans, and is a lovely, adorable little boy.

Now that you're sponsoring Teddy, how about a look back at when he was a very, very young puppy indeed?

How about... five days old?

All together now: "Awwwwwwww!"

We breed our own puppies, because this way we  know who the parents are, and that they have been very well looked after. They tend to be dogs that have shown exceptional temperaments throughout their training, and so they become the Hearing Dogs 'mums' and 'dads' for the next generation, passing on their superb genes. We also know that they've been screened to make sure they don't have any inheritable issues. Their health and wellbeing is always top of our list.

So, little Teddy has a super heritage! We hope this will soon start to show in his training. It certainly didn't take long for him to emerge as the top puppy in the litter (quite literally).

At three weeks he's already a lovely little chap!

Hearing dogs help their deaf partners in many practical ways, such as telling them about the doorbell and smoke alarm. They're also a huge emotional support, and part of this is having a lovely furry friend who, when out and about, attracts admiring glances and sparks conversation. Teddy is such a cutey-pie, he's going to make his future deaf partner very proud and popular.

This next shot is at four weeks. Isn't it amazing how quickly they develop? Although he still has that legs apart 'power stance'!

At five weeks Teddy is decidedly more puppy-shaped, and looks like he's ready to go for run-arounds.

And a couple of weeks later, here's Teddy, ready for action!

He looks very Teddy-like don't you think? His eyes and nose look like buttons, and his ears especially look very silky and smooth. You just want to give him a big cuddle - which is just as well, because he likes cuddles.

He also likes a snooze, just like when he was five days old...

Sweet dreams Teddy! You've got a long training journey ahead of you.

We're thrilled that you're helping Teddy on his way. We hope you enjoyed this latest look at his life and times. So, until next time, thank you again for sponsoring Teddy!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
