Tyson starts out on life with Jennifer

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Tyson is starting out on life with Jennifer, his Volunteer Dog Trainer. She's sent us plenty of fab photos. Let's start with this one, showing Tyson contemplating his bright future!

Jennifer already feels she knows Tyson very well, and tells us: "Tyson loves going out for walks in the woods and fields to explore - nose down, unable to walk in a straight line, tail constantly wagging. He gets very excited when we meet other dogs and humans. Everything is such a happy adventure for him."

It's so funny that Tyson still hasn't quite got the hang of straight lines yet! At least in the wide open countryside that shouldn't be too much of a problem (although perhaps the mud will - we're anticipating our first 'muddy Tyson' photos before too long...)

Back to Jennifer: "When he lies down, he has a few rolls of excess skin that he still has to grow into, but there is no excess weight - he is just big paws, big ears, big eyes, big heart and some belly! His fur is lovely and soft and still retains the puppy look and feel - not yet adult fur, but still mischievous puppy coat."

Let's look at that soft fur close up...

Yes, that still looks like puppy fur to us!

If you're in any doubt whatsoever that Tyson is still a cute puppy, then take a look at this video of him snoozing:

All together now... "Awwwwwwwww!"

Right, back to the serious business of enjoying the woods. Tyson is in very good company, as Jennifer has two dogs of her own who have already befriended little Tyson.

"Bo is an 11-year-old Blue Merle Collie x Lurcher cross, and Izzy is an 8-year-old Collie x Bernese Mountain Dog cross. Izzy and Tyson are best of friends and play for hours together. Tyson steals all Bo's tennis balls and toys, but Bo still loves Tyson really!"

We really like it when our sponsor pups live with volunteers who have their own dogs. It helps the puppies learn from their big pals, and they learn that, if they play nicely, everything is fun. We also have known older dogs who enjoy having new, energetic little friends to play with!

Here they are having a good old nose around together.

And here's Tyson simply looking cute again! He's very good at it, don't you think?

And back to Jennifer for the last words: "Izzy and Tyson are best of friends and play for hours together."

Here's a series of photos she sent us which we just had to turn into an animation:

Tyson might be cute, but isn't a Collie x Bernese Mountain dog cross a very striking combination?

We're all about Tyson obviously. He's so happy with his new family, and this will really help him with his training. We can't wait to tell you more about how this happy chappy's coming along, so until the next Pupdate... thank you for sponsoring Tyson!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
