Tyson, Sharron and George
Posted by Brendan Cooper
Time for more Tyson!
A while ago, he spent some time with other volunteers who looked after him while Jennifer, his Voluteer Puppy Trainer, was away for a few weeks. They're called Sharron and George, and they made sure Tyson continued his training - and have fun while doing so!
Jennifer takes us through the photos...
"They took Tyson for an outing to Oxford and here he is, behaving beautifully, on the 'Park and Ride' coach."
She continues: "Tyson loves all things trains and buses. He finds the swaying motion very relaxing, settling very quickly in this environment, and knows he is setting off on an exciting adventure."
Sharron and George currently have another hearing dog puppy called Riley, and have taken three of our puppies through the training previously - so Tyson was in very good hands! As Jennifer says: "I am so pleased Tyson went to such experienced socialisers. We have remained friends and get together regularly for dog walks and catch-ups. It is really helpful being able to get help and support from other, more experienced, socialisers and makes you realise that you are not in this alone and that all puppies present interesting quirks and challenges."
This is such a great observation. Our volunteers help each other out, and particularly during these difficult times, even if they can't meet up, they are staying in contact via email, video, phone, text - they'd use smoke signals and semaphore if it came to that. They're great, and we simply could not operate without their hard work and dedication.
Here's another photo from the Oxford trip.
"Sharron and George are definitely adventurous and always prepared - their bag of all things Tyson would make Mary Poppins envious," says Jennifer. "The collapsible water bowls are perfect for a day outing when puppies get tired and thirsty with all the new stimuli and excitement. George has Tyson's lead secured under his shoe. This is another tip we learn in our training, so that we keep both hands free for other puppy duties, such as cuddles and giving treats! Judging from this photograph, George needs to hurry along with the treats..."
What a great tip that is! And what smart shoes George is wearing! Or, at least, one smart shoe.
Now that Jennifer and Tyson are reunited, they're having plenty of forest-related fun.
"This is off one of the paths in Sulham Woods. He runs and runs and runs along the paths and up into the forest floor for about every morning.
"The photo is slightly blurry as his gorgeous face is literally quivering all over because he's so excited, panting away happily."
That's definitely a candidate for Tongue-out Tuesday! As is this one:
Back to Jennifer: "Tyson loves rummaging in dry leaves and especially lying in grass. I think he likes the noise and movement of the leaves and the coolness of the grass. He sort of spreads himself out on the grass, rolling over and over, before it is time to get back to running."
It's so great that Tyson and Jennifer continue to have a wonderful time together, while it seems Tyson is going from strength to strength, further supported by our amazing volunteer community.
We hope you enjoyed this latest peek into Tyson's life. Thank you for sponsoring him!
