The life and times of Vesper

Posted by Brendan Cooper

We're very happy to tell you that Vesper continues to have a lovely life with Debbie and John!

And Flash too, of course!

If you recall, Flash is Vesper's half-brother from a previous litter. He also lives with Debbie and John, and together, Vesper and Flash have lots of fun. You can see this in abundance in the video below!

They're such great pals. They also like splashing around in the paddling pool together!

And after the running around together, and the splish-splosh together, the snoozing together...

Vesper doesn't rely on Flash for all her fun though. She can enjoy herself too! Here she is trying to figure out what looks like a fun toy to play with instead.

We make sure our pups get plenty of treats, toys and fussing because happy puppies learn better. We call it 'reward-based training' and it works really well. If a puppy makes the right decision it gets a reward. 'Wrong' decisions are just ignored. So, Vesper is learning that if she sits when asked, or is nice and quiet in a public place, then she'll get a reward. It's not a bad life for a puppy, just getting treats for playing games!

Here she is at one of her very first puppy classes.

We hold classes in local village halls, clubhouses, civic centres - all the places that can be hired out locally for any sort of class. Vesper did really well in her first class. She's gentle and lovely, but confident with it. It's a great combination for a hearing dog.

Vesper is still very early on in her training however, so let's just spend some time going 'awwwww' at how cute she is...

All together now: "Awwwwww!"

Until your next update, thank you so much for sponsoring Vesper!

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
