Welcome to the world of Willow
Posted by Alicia Shepherd
Welcome to your second puppy pen episode where Willow goes on a quest to find the perfect Willow Pillow!
Ever since she was a very little pup Willow has loved a snooze, whether she is sleeping on her mum, on her own, or on her back.
Now that she is a slightly bigger puppy, living with volunteer trainer Clare and her husband Mike, Willow has settled in and found more things to sleep on.
As you can see she is still a slipper thief, will Clare ever get her slippers back? If she does at least they will be nice and warm.
Willow loves a snooze because she needs to recharge her puppy batteries after being on adventures. She loves a good look through a box for toys and a walk in the woods where she can experience new sights, sounds and smells.
Curiosity and confidence are great characteristics for a young hearing dog in training. These qualities show that they are smart and observant, wanting to pay attention to the world around them. Once they have gone through training, confident pups like Willow will be looking out for their deaf partner while they navigate the world together, so this alertness and curiosity will come in very handy.
Willow is also super sociable, here she is with her puppy pal and housemate, Cooper, another hearing dog in training, looked after by Clare. Having an older dog around is like having a big brother or sister.
Cooper is helping Willow to learn about other dogs so that she knows how to behave when she meets dogs on walks, on the high street and in cafes. He also sets an example for Willow on how to behave and respond to Clare's instructions.
They seem to have found a common interest!
Cooper is the perfect Willow Pillow!
Willow continues her journey to become a hearing dog thanks to your kindness, we look forward to sharing more of Willow's adventures with you soon. In her third puppy pen episode we'll be talking about puppy class and the training Willow has started.
