Wonderful Willow

Hello and welcome back to lovely Willow’s Puppy Pen!

Now, let’s cut straight to the chase. We know what you’re all thinking… is Willow still a slipper thief?

Well...

The answer would be yes!

But it’s okay because Willow is adorable and Clare, her lovely volunteer puppy trainer, doesn’t seem to mind. Well, that’s alright then!

So, what has Willow been up to recently? We are pleased to say that Willow has made a fantastic start in her training. She has started puppy school and here she is doing a perfect ‘down’ in one of her classes…

Willow is already showing amazing qualities which we look for in all of our hearing dogs. For example, Willow seems to have a natural instinct to be calm and focused in nearly every situation.

She is already a settling superstar…

For such a young pup, this is unbelievably impressive. Willow is making it look so easy!

It’s no surprise that Willow is flying through her training. Her brilliant volunteer puppy trainer, Clare, is very experienced and has trained many of our hearing dog superheroes. So, Willow is in very good hands.

On one recent adventure, Clare and Willow were enjoying a lovely walk in the woods, when they met some horses walking in the opposite direction. The way that Willow reacted to the horses was just incredible. Luckily, Clare caught this moment on camera so you can see the amazing moment for yourself…

As you can see, Willow sat down and calmly watched the horses go by. This is fantastic. Learning to be calm, relaxed and happy in the company of other animals is an important part of Willow’s hearing dog training. If Willow’s future deaf partner wanted to take her on a walk, they would need to be confident that Willow wasn't going to run off and chase after any animals.  

Once the horses had gone on their way, Willow was able to continue her adventure in the woods…

And whoops… it looks like Willow had a bit too much fun with some mud…

Back home now and it’s time for sleepy Willow to get some rest…

Sweet dreams Willow… there will be more adventures tomorrow!
