Zara indoors and outdoors

Posted by Brendan Cooper

Zara continues to grow! She's still not a big dog, especially for a Labrador, but she has a very pretty face which everyone comments on. She's also very bright and outgoing, and her volunteer puppy socialisers Louise and Gary are loving every minute of looking after her. It's their job to make sure Zara's first year of life is positive, learning new skills and growing up to be a happy, well-balanced pup -- and from what we can see they're doing a great job of it.

The photo below shows Zara having fun outdoors - or, rather, in water! This is the river Chess, near some of the last working watercress beds along the river, and a beautiful part of the country. As you can see, Zara enjoys cooling off, whether it's just a dip...

... or something a little deeper!

Still outdoors, here you can see Zara with her ball - or, at least, asking someone to throw it for her. She's so bright that she can always get the ball before any other dog. How she does it is still a mystery.

She always brings it back however. What a good girl she is!

Indoors now. Zara has a funny habit of spinning round and around in a clockwise direction when she wants to play ball. Here you can see her in mid-spin.

And finally, after all that activity - a bit of a snooze. In, admittedly, a rather odd position!

Did we say finally? No Puppy Pen update is complete without a dog sticking its tongue out.

We hope you enjoyed this update. Zara certainly enjoyed helping Gary and Louise to make it! It's through your support as her sponsor that she's come this far, so again, thank you for helping her.

Hi, I'm Brendan. I write all your sponsor pup updates, printed and online. It's a hard life, writing about cute puppies who, with your support, will grow up to help deaf people leave loneliness behind. I am partially deaf myself, so I have some insights into the challenges deafness can bring. However, I don't have a dog of my own: I have two Maine Coon cats who are quite dog-like and take up most of my time!
